BigGrin I have done it , it has taken me two years trying to type even when in severe pain and I have produced a book and have been published.
I thought I would never get it done, on some days I would just want to give up but just being bloody minded pushed me on. I know there are lots of RA members who have written books but I also have chronic pains in my arms all the time after being given MRSA and it is like having my arms crushed so as well as my meds for RA I take another 30 tablets for this pain, also I am dyslectic. So there you are that is why I am so happy. Can I tell you what it is and what it is about.
It is called [Lets Get The Builder In By (Andrew Cooke my pen name). [/b]I was a good surveyor until I had to stop work and i loved my work and so I thought I would pass on my knowledge to help others. So I produced a book which tells the house owner how to employ a builder, also tells the hoseowner how work should be done and then I write a small specification which the hoseowner can copy or adjust to suite and then pass to the builder to get a quote from, and as the bulder has to quote they can't keep coming back and say I did not allow for that as they should have. It is sold on Amazon on line and Waterstones on line at £12.
I am waiting to have my first signing where i sit in a book shop and sign books. I am now trying to do a second book dealing with larger works like exstenions and coversions but this is harder as my fingers are in lots of pain. Whish me luck. David Hand

David - that's brilliant and it sounds as if it's a book well worth reading.

We have another published author on the site as well, Anthea, who now has her second book out.

Hey david

your amazing. thats sounds brilliant. wish i had that book when I employed a builder a couple of months ago... doesnt people have pride in their work anymore i wail. I hate getting builders in as I always feel ripped off for the quality of work done. For example the builder doing my path said it would be 3 days and he did it in 1.5 days and i felt done because that was reflected in the price and the only thing I can say about the path is that it is the basic health and safety standard, but asthetically its awfu, and I bought granite. So if your book deals with this you will be a millionaire before long. Smile

On your second book - why not try and get voice activated wordprocessing software. I believe setting it up can be trying i think it takes a while to get use to the dialect. Do let us know where you will be doing your signing. Hopefully you will get to go on the radio or day time tv to promote it.

Best of luck

Mari

Fantastic achievement David and good luck with your second book. My hands are not good and as I've not been on any treatment apart from pain killers and steroid jabs, I've not been able to continue with my thesis. Have you tried voice activated software for your computer, I hear there are some quite good programmes around and will be looking into it so that I can continue writing.

Love,

Barbara

Congratulations David! I've often thought it would be rewarding (in many ways) to write a pop song, then persuade someone big and famous to sing it. Maybe one day?

Best wishes
